Windows 95 Troubleshooting Guide

First, double-click on the My Computer icon. Then double-click on the Dial-Up Networking icon. Once in Dial-Up Networking, right click on the icon for Interlync, and click on Properties.


After clicking on "Properties", make sure you are dialing the correct number. Then click on "configure". If you have a 14.4Kbps modem, set the Max. speed to 19200; if you have a 28.8Kbps or a 33.6Kbps modem, then set the Max. speed to 38400; if you have a 56kbps modem, then set the Max. speed to 57600.

Click on the "Connection tab at the top. Click on "Port Settings" in the bottom left. Both the Receive and Transmit buffer should be 3/4 of the way to the right. Click on OK twice.

Beside Configure, click on "Server Type". Under Advanced Options, nothing should be checked. At the bottom of the screen, under Allowed Network Protocols make sure that the only item checked is TCP/IP.

Beside TCP/IP, click on the "TCP/IP Settings". Server assigned IP address and Server assigned name server addresses should be checked.

Once completed, click on OK three times. Exit out of Dial-Up Networking, and click on the start button, then click on Settings, and Control Panel. Once in Control Panel, double-click on the Network icon . Once in "Network, double-click on TCP-IP. Click on "IP Address", it should read Obtain an IP Address Automatically.

Click on "WINS Configuration", it should read Disable WINS Resolution. Click on "DNS Configuration, Enable DNS should be checked. Under Host the login name should appear; and under Domain, Interlync.com should be there. Under DNS Server Search Order, the two DNS numbers should be there 207.229.143.1 and 207.229.143.2. Click on OK twice, this will prompt the user to restart the computer. This should be done in order for the settings to take effect. After the computer restarts, they should be ready to dial into Interlync.
